NOAT Nicotine Pouches User Guide

Who Should Use Nicotine Pouches?

Current smokers: To avoid nicotine withdrawal and as a safer alternative to smoking.

Former smokers: To help prevent relapse into smoking.

These products are not recommended for people who have never smoked.

What’s in Nicotine Pouches?

Nicotine pouches contain nicotine, water, plant-based ingredients, flavorings, and sweeteners.

Importantly, they do not contain tobacco.

How to Use a Nicotine Pouch:

  1. Remove a pouch from the packaging.
  2. Place it between your gum and lip. You may feel a tingling or warming sensation as the nicotine releases.
  3. Keep the pouch in place for at least 5 minutes, but no longer than 60 minutes.
  4. Dispose of the pouch in a waste bin.
  5. Do not swallow the pouch.

Choosing the Right Nicotine Strength

Nicotine pouches are available in various strengths:

  • 4mg: Suitable for light nicotine users (around half a pack of cigarettes per day).
  • 9mg: Best for moderate to heavy nicotine users (approximately one pack per day).
  • 14mg: Designed for very heavy users (1.5 packs or more per day).

If you smoke more than 20 cigarettes daily, start with a higher strength.
If it feels overwhelming, opt for a lower strength.
For those smoking fewer than 20 cigarettes daily, try a lower strength first and increase only if cravings persist.

How Often Should You Use a Pouch?

Use one pouch whenever you feel the urge to smoke, aiming for roughly one per hour.
Each pouch can stay in place for up to 60 minutes.
A single package should last 1–2 days.

Possible Side Effects

Nicotine pouches may cause:

  • Hiccups
  • Sore mouth
  • Nausea or upset stomach if overused

These effects are similar to other oral nicotine replacement products like lozenges or sprays.

Important Safety Tips

  • Never share pouches with others or reuse discarded pouches, as this can lead to infection.
  • If you accidentally swallow a pouch, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Dispose of used pouches responsibly following local regulations.
